About SAA
Governance, constitution and elections
The Society is member-governed. Authority flows from the General Assembly through elected zonal representatives to the Executive Board.
The constitution
The constitution defines membership categories, the powers of the General Assembly, the composition of the Administrative Council and the mandate of the Secretariat. Amendments require a two-thirds majority of members voting at a General Assembly convened during ICASA.
Election cycle
- Nominations open six months before the General Assembly.
- Candidates must hold two consecutive years of membership.
- Zonal ballots are issued through the member portal.
- Officers serve a two-year term, renewable once.
Accountability
Annual audited accounts, the ICASA conference report and a governance report are tabled before the General Assembly and published in the resource library in both working languages.
